Steve grew up in the hockey hotbed of northern New Jersey and played his youth hockey with the New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey Club. In 1998, Steve won a New Jersey High School State Championship playing at Seton Hall Prep. In 1999, his team, the Midget AAA American Eagles, won the bronze medal in the U.S National Tier 1 Tournament coached by Stanley Cup Winner and former Chicago Blackhawks Assistant Coach Mike Haviland. After being recruited for a number of junior programs across the mid-west and receiving collegiate scholarships from New England schools, Steve decided to play his college hockey at Villanova University (ACHA Division 1) where he was named captain his senior year and led the team in scoring in 2001-02 and 2002-03.
Steve is also a certified personal trainer through the Ignite360 program. "The system, derived from the Ignite Performance Training methodology honed over three decades of developing elite-level athletes at IMG Academy in Florida offers fully customizable training programs and a unique comprehensive system for measuring progression." Utilizing this training platform led Steve to be the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Lone Star Brahmas (NAHL) team for 6 seasons.
Steve has 15+ years of coaching experience with peewee, bantam and midget hockey across three states: New Jersey for the New Jersey Colonials…Illinois for the Falcons Hockey Association…Tennessee for the Nashville Jr. Predators.
